Fourth class book rate
From March 26, 1944 to January 1, 1949 the fourth class book rate was ten cents for a package weighing more than two pounds, but less or equal to three. This was composed of three cents per pound plus one cent surcharge.
This package, with the books still in it, weighs slightly less than three pounds.
